Ancient wisdom and nomadic culture

This unique journey offers you behind-the-scenes access to the Tengri supply chain and sourcing, where the story of our rare Khangai Noble Fibres begins. For summer visits, the trip includes the traditional Yak Festival, celebrating this noble beast.

Behind-the-scenes access - The Tengri Way

This transformative and once in a lifetime immersive learning retreat is exclusively guided by our founder, Nancy Johnston. Sourcing sustainable rare fibres for Tengri takes us to remote corners of western Mongolia. Our relationship with indigenous families and in-depth, first-hand knowledge of this stunning landscape means we uniquely offer authentic and immersive experiences beyond the scope of traditional travel or educational programmes on sustainability.

Exclusively guided by our founder, Nancy Johnston

In this rugged, unspoilt part of the world, Mongolian nomadic communities revere mountains as sacred beings — alive, powerful, and deeply intertwined with spiritual and ancestral life. You’ll encounter nomadic herders – custodians of the majestic Khangai Mountains for countless generations – and indigenous animals such as the sacred Khangai yak and camels, the source of Tengri’s noble fibres.

The mountain is more than land - it is ancestor, guardian, and spirit

Together with our partners, herder families, local conservationists, charity partners, local and national government, we offer one-of-a-kind trips centred around the preservation of nomadic culture, wildlife and land regeneration.

Valley of the Ancestors, Khangai Mountains

This journey is part of Source Mountain, an impact initiative created by Tengri at the request of nomadic mountain communities who are at the core of why we exist. Collectively, we aim to honour, respect and learn from the wisdom of mountain landscapes, cultures, and craft heritage.
